Centuries later, Prince Siegfried is celebrating his coming of age. His best friend Benno has organized a hunt for the occasion. All is merry, and the Prince even receives a prized crossbow from his mother the Queen. He is full of cheer until the Queen reminds him that he must soon find a bride to marry. Despite the continued revelry of his guests, Siegfried is discouraged. Benno tries and fails to lift his spirits. Siegfried leaves the party behind and continues into the woods.
