A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Mr. Alfred L. Dove graduated from Howard University with a BFA Cum Laude in Acting, and a MFA in Dance from the University of California, Irvine. His experience lies in counseling, directing, choreographing, and teaching acting, dance, musical theatre, and performance arts courses for several colleges and universities including the University of California at Irvine and Howard University. In Dove’s twenty-five-year career, he has performed on Broadway and in several national and international touring productions. As Director of The Dove Arts Project, he has served as director/choreographer for many organizations including BalletMet and Columbus Area, Inc.’s production of The Chocolate Nutcracker (an educational cultural arts event servicing over 1,200 youth and adult performers). Dove has been recognized for his work with The International Association of Blacks in Dance and the Choreographer Lecture series. Dove has also served as an Artist in Residence for many organizations: including Denison University, Copenhagen Ballet, Denmark, and the PBS Square One special Think About the Problem. Mr. Dove is the administrator of his brother Ulysses Dove’s estate. He travels the world to stage Ulysses’ works and to ensure that his ballets are produced with the original intent of the choreography.
