Trumpeter Mark Davis is currently pursuing a master’s degree in trumpet performance at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University with Barbara Butler. In May of 2025, he graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Trumpet Performance, earning a 4.0 GPA. While at MSU, he won three professional orchestra auditions, in Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Opera, and Jackson Symphony Orchestra. He also performed with several other major orchestras, including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra. He also did several solo competitions, advancing in the National Trumpet Competition, finaling in the MSU Honors Concert Competition, and winning the MSU Concert Orchestra Concerto Competition. In the summers, he has participated in the Sewanee Summer Music Festival, the Texas Music Festival, the Napa Valley Music Festival, and the Cincinnati Brass Institute. Mark is originally from Haines, Alaska.
