Xiaowen started to play piano at 6 years old. She went to the middle school attached to Shenyang conservatory to study with Ms.Ying Guo. After six years of training under Ms.Guo, she went to the US to continue her study under Dr. Daniela Mineva at Humboldt State University. Xiaowen frequently performed with Humboldt Symphony and played many recitals at Morris Graves Museum of Art in Eureka. She is Currently a first year master’s student at University of North Texas in Dr. Pamela Mia Paul's studio.

Xiaowen is the recipient of The Steve and Barb Landay Scholarship, the Don & Kathleen Greenhouse Scholarship, and the Mary Chenoweth Wright Scholarship Endowment.
