Zibin Zhou
Harp

Chinese classical harpist, Zibin Zhou, is an upcoming student at Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music where she will do the Doctor of Musical Arts degree under the tutelage of Doctor Gillian Benet Sella. Prior to this, Zibin Zhou graduated with a Master’s degree from Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and obtained her bachelor’s degree at Minzu University of China, Beijing, where she studied with China Film Orchestra principal harpist, Li Li. As an orchestral musician, she has played with the CCM Philharmonia, China Film Orchestra, the Central University for Nationalities Youth Orchestra. As a soloist, she has given recitals across Asia and America. In addition to being familiar with western works, Zibin is also interested in the use of the harp in Eastern music, has tried to perform with the reed-pipe, horse-head fiddle, dombra, and other Chinese minority instruments. Enthusiastic about her ongoing study journey, Zibin received scholarship offers from several top U.S. music schools during the just-ended application season and finally chose to stay at CCM to continue her doctoral studies. Zibin is captivated by the growing repertory of new harps and has even premiered many harp pieces by Chinese composers.

Zibin is the recipient of The Richard & Eleanor Aron Music Scholarship and The Rachel Wilder and Phil Lerman Scholarship.
