David began playing the clarinet in 4th grade. He has been Principal clarinet of the Evansville Philharmonic Youth Symphony for six years. In 2024, he was a winner of the Carmel Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition. In 2024, he won 3rd place in the Evansville Philharmonic Concerto Competition as well as 2nd Place in 2023 and honorable mention in 2022. He was selected for the Indiana All-State Honor Band in 2022 and 2023. He is Principal chair for the 2024 Indiana All-State Orchestra, and in 2023, he was 2nd chair clarinet of this ensemble. He was a member of the Reitz High School band, orchestra and choir. He was a member of the EVSC Honors Band beginning in 6th and joined the Honors Orchestra in high school. In his summers, he has attended the Indiana University Summer music clinic, the MPulse Clarinet Intensive at the University of Michigan and the Clarinet Intensive at the ARIA International Summer Academy. This past summer he was an alternate for the National Youth Orchestra 2. He is a member of the National Honor Society and was awarded the status of AP Scholar by the College Board. In the fall, he was awarded an Artist Grant from the Arts Council of Southwest Indiana. He has been a member of the F.J. Reitz academic team for German, math and history. He enjoys traveling, taking long walks, playing video games and learning languages. His current teacher is Emily Cook who is the Principal Clarinet for the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra and the Carmel Symphony Orchestra. His past teachers include Kirsten Ahnell and Dr. Thomas Josenhans. He will graduate in May from F.J. Reitz High School and plans to pursue a degree in clarinet performance.
