Sara Crigger
mezzo-soprano

My name is Sara Crigger. I am a mezzo-soprano currently based in Nashville (though I do have family ties in Western Carolina), and I am interested in opportunities to sing with the Greenville Symphony.

A little about myself: I began my musical career on the commercial side of things here in Nashville, singing and playing cello and bass guitar for rock and country bands after finishing my undergraduate degree at Berklee College of Music. I discovered how much I love singing opera and classical music in my mid-late 20's, and haven't looked back. I finished an M.M. at Austin Peay, and was fortunate enough to be included in the Mary Ragland Emerging Artist program here in Nashville a few years later.

Recent highlights include the stage premier of The Copper Queen with Marble City Opera, my first Elijah, and The Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors with Opera Louisiane. 2023 started out with the premier of Jeffrey Wood’s Songs of Ascents, followed swiftly with stepping into APSU’s production of Cendrillon as Count Barigoule (I am on the voice faculty there). Most recently, I was lucky enough to sing my first (Bach) Christmas Oratorio, and then to compete in Georgia Symphony's Beethoven 9 Competition (I was the alternate finalist). I’m looking forward to returning to Nashville Opera’s mainstage in April to sing Second Lady in their production of Magic Flute, and again this fall to sing Mercedes in Carmen!
