Wanda Mitchell (Camden, New Jersey) has studied with the late Florence Berggren (Temple University), coached with Martin Rich (Metropolitan Opera, Temple University) and with the late Sylvia Olden Lee (The Metropolitan Opera and Curtis Institute). While residing in her native New Jersey, she performed with Opera Ebony, the Camerata Opera Theatre, and performed various concerts.
While attending Hampton University, she toured with the prestigious Concert Choir under the direction of Roland Carter, and while at Temple University, avidly performed with the Opera Theatre.
She has taught in the Hampton City School system since 1999. At present, she is the Director of Choirs at Hampton High School and is mentoring young singers who are competing in and preparing for the 2018 ACTSO (Afro academic Technological, Scientific Competition. “Life is a song worth singing, and journey worth taking.”
