Monique L'Heureux
Lighting Designer and Production Director

Monique L’Heureux is an award-winning lighting designer and a long-time collaborator of Artistic Director and Producer Molly Lynch. Her work with Lynch includes the National Choreographer’s Initiative (since 2005), A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and numerous projects with Ballet Pacifica.

Monique’s extensive design credits include Ma Cong’s French Twist for Smuin Ballet (originally created for NCI), the Palm Desert Choreography Festival with Charlotte Griffin and Maté Szentes, over ten seasons with Raiford Rogers Modern Ballet (at the Luckman Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles and at the Ailey Center and Dance Theatre Workshop in New York), more than ten seasons with Ballet California, and five seasons with Barak Ballet. She has also designed Bollywood Delicious and Khel for blue13 dance company.

Her lighting direction includes work with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, and World Music at the Hollywood Bowl. Other notable credits include events for the Motion Picture and Television Fund featuring Hugh Jackman, Chita Rivera, Dick Van Dyke, and Kristin Chenoweth, as well as Regional Dance America festivals nationwide—and countless productions of The Nutcracker.

A recipient of four Lester Horton Dance Awards, Monique has taught at colleges and universities and is a proud member of IATSE. She is also a visual artist and award-winning photographer whose work has been exhibited in galleries and public spaces, including the Long Beach Public Library and a permanent installation at Glendale Adventist Hospital.
