XU Jingkun

XU graduated as a Ballet major from the Shanghai Dance School in July 2017. From October 2017 to December 2018, he studied abroad at The Australian Ballet. He joined Shanghai Ballet in February 2019.

Repertoire credits include: principal roles in The White-haired Girl, Giselle, Le Fantôme de l'Opéra (Derek Deane), Lily (WANG Ge), Swan Lake (Grand Version, Derek Deane), The Nutcracker (Shanghai Grand Theatre Version, Derek Deane), Follow the Light (WU Husheng); important role in The Lady of the Camellias (Shanghai Ballet Version, Derek Deane), etc.; performed in The Last Mission of Marco Polo (José Martinez), Bright Red Star (ZHAO Ming), etc.; performed solo dance Insects Awaken (WU Husheng), one-act ballet Three Shades of Blue, Lost Star (WU Husheng), etc.

Selected award credits include: Gold Award of Junior Group’s Classical Dance Division in South Africa International Ballet Competition (2014); Silver Award in South Korea International Ballet Competition (2014); First Prize and Outstanding Male Actor Award of Junior Group in Hong Kong “Star of Canaan Dance” International Ballet Competition (2015); Gold Medal of Junior Group in Shanghai International Ballet Competition (2016); Silver Prize of Junior Group in Beijing International Ballet Competition (2017); Grand Prix of Contemporary Dance Senior Division, Gold Award of Group Ballet and Gold Award of Contemporary Dance Senior (A) – Professional Division in the International United Cloud Dance Competition (2020, 2021); Excellent Performance Award of the 2nd Yangtze River Area Professional Dance Exhibition (Follow the Light, 2023); Best New Artist in the 7th Shanghai New Artist Competition (2024); Rising Leading Dancer of the 33rd Shanghai White Magnolia Stage Performance Award (2025); Best Dancer Nominee for the 33rd Benois de la Danse (2025); Excellent New Talent Award of the 8th Shanghai Culture and Art Award.
