Natalie Shirota
Dancer

Natalie Shirota is a Southern California–based dancer, choreographer, and educator. She holds her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance from the University of California, Irvine, where she trained extensively in contemporary, ballet, improvisation, and postmodern dance. Alongside her concert dance training, she has an extensive background in competitive International ballroom dance, performing and choreographing across both concert and social dance settings. Shirota's choreographic practice investigates the relationship between movement, space, and sound. Drawing from her multidisciplinary training, she creates work that explores rhythm, spatial design, and dynamic physicality, allowing movement and music to shape one another. Her choreography blends technical precision with curiosity and experimentation, emphasizing the qualities of weight, release, and flow, and how these elements influence the way bodies navigate each other and their environment. As both a performer and choreographer, she is interested in creating work that highlights the body's capacity to organize, respond to, and redefine space.
