John Fischer
Music Director, Piano

John has been a music director and pianist in New York City for over 20 years. For 13 years he was the music director for Broadway’s Rising Stars at the famed Town Hall N.Y., where he also worked on numerous Broadway Originals concerts. He made his Lincoln Center debut acting as music director for the Tony Award winner, Ali Stroker, in her sold out American Songbook concert. He spent seven seasons as music director for the highly acclaimed musical theater program at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in the Berkshires. His collaborated with Stephen Schwartz and Chet Walker on the creation of a new ballet, The Boy on the Roof. He has worked in the symphony world as a guest artist with the Santa Ana Symphony Orchestra in Music of the Knights, and the Signature Symphony in Tulsa for a Bernstein/Robbins celebration.

In New York City, he is a regular fixture at Feinstein’s/54 Below, music directing everything from Sondheim to Sinatra. Highlights include Alice Ripley and Emily Skinner’s sold out run of Unattached, and the 25th Anniversary concert of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, part of the award-winning 54 Sings series for which he also acted as music director for Applause, Mack & Mabel, and Kiss of the Spider Woman. Other N.Y. credits include: pianist for the Broadway revival of West Side Story, pianist/conductor for Talk of the Town at Bank Street Theatre, Take Me Along at Irish Rep, Naked Boys Singing at New World Stages, and much more. He has been on staff at Applause NY, The Growing studio, AMDA, HB Studios, The New School, and the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.
