BILL MAURER, Dean of the UCI School of Social Sciences, is an internationally recognized expert on the anthropology of law, money and finance. His research, ranging from the study of offshore financial services to the future of money, has been consistently supported by the National Science Foundation as well as multiple public and private foundations, associations, and corporations. He's founded two major research centers on campus – the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-funded Institute for Money, Technology & Financial Inclusion and Intel-supported Intel Science & Technology Center for Social Computing. In 2016, he was named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He currently serves as the lead research fellow of Filene Research Institute’s Center for Emerging Technology.
