Saho Kumagai is from Sapporo, Japan, where she began dancing at age 9. In 2009, she moved to the United States to study at the Boston Ballet School and Pacific Northwest Ballet School Professional Division. In 2014, she placed among the 20 finalists at the Prix de Lausanne International Ballet Competition in Switzerland. From 2014 to 2015, she danced with Charlotte Ballet II. Saho joined Atlanta Ballet in 2015, where she has been dancing ever since. She had the pleasure of working with choreographers such as Claudia Schreier, Liam Scarlet, Dwight Rhoden, Craig Davidson, and Yuri Possokhov. Some of her favorite repertoires include Liam Scarlet’s Vespertine, Alexander Ekman’s Tuplet and Cacti, and Ohad Naharin’s Minus 16.
