Dennis Kim
Violin

A citizen of the world, Dennis Kim was born in Korea, raised in Canada and educated in the United States. He has spent more than a decade leading orchestras in the United States, Europe and Asia. 

A dedicated teacher, Dennis Kim is the Assistant Professor of Violin at the Claire Trevor School of the Arts at the University of California, Irvine. This past summer, Mr. Kim joined the faculty of the National Orchestral Academy of Canada and the Interlochen Center for the Arts as Valade Concertmaster in the World Youth Symphony Orchestra. Previously he was on the faculty of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Korean National University of the Arts, Yonsei University, Tampere Conservatory, and the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts.

In addition to serving as concertmaster of the Pacific Symphony, Dennis Kim has been a member of the Mainly Mozart All Star Orchestra and concertmaster of the Peninsula Festival Orchestra in Wisconsin. Dennis Kim also performs regularly in the studio orchestras of Hollywood, working with prominent composers such as John Williams and Alan Menken. He can be heard on movies such as Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, Toy Story 4, among many others.

Dennis Kim is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and Yale School of Music. He plays the 1701 ex-Dushkin Stradivarius and a modern bow made by Korean bow maker Yongje Song, on permanent loan from a generous donor.
