Wycliffe Gordon is a celebrated trombonist, composer, conductor, and arranger known for his dynamic sound and inventive artistry. A veteran of the Wynton Marsalis Septet and an original member of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, he has performed with legends like Dizzy Gillespie, Paul Simon, Dianne Reeves, and Arturo Sandoval.
His compositions have been performed worldwide, including commissioned works such as “Still, We Rise” and “A Soldier’s Heart.” His arrangement of NPR’s All Things Considered theme is heard globally. Gordon has received multiple Jazz Journalists Association “Trombonist of the Year” awards and the ITA Award for artistic achievement.
A dedicated educator, he is Director of Jazz Studies at Augusta University and has held residencies at Juilliard, Manhattan School of Music, and Arizona State University. A Yamaha Performing Artist, he also has a signature line of mouthpieces with Pickett Brass.
