Young American soprano and actress Jessica Fishenfeld recently made her Off-Broadway debut as a “bright-voiced” (NY Times) Brünnhilde in Das Barbecü, and “triumphed” (NY Observer) in her New York City Opera debut last season as Leah in the World Premiere of Stonewall, with “clean coloratura,” (Opera News) and “spunky personality” (Opera Wire). Fishenfeld also starred in the NY Premiere of Barnum’s Bird by Libby Larsen at Circle in the Square, in addition to the World Premiere of Lovesick at National Sawdust. This season, she performed in Alpine Theatre Project’s Operalesque, in a virtual concert of Mark Campbell’s works with New York Festival of Song and in Grateful, The Songs of John Bucchino—20th Anniversary Virtual Concert as well as produced it with John Bucchino. Upcoming engagements include performing in a concert with New York City Opera, Celebrate America with Hartford Symphony Orchestra, and directing Femme with Savannah Voice Festival.
Last season, Fishenfeld performed the role of Gilda in Rigoletto at The Box Theatre and On Site Opera’s Sad Barbecü. 2020 engagements were to include performing the role of Krysia in Heggie’s Out of Darkness, Two Remain with Miami’s Classical Music Festival’s alumni cast at the New World Center and the Stepmother in Princeton Festival’s Into the Woods.
