Vien Le
cello

Vien Le is a senior at Canton High School. She began studying cello at the age of 4 and piano at the age of 6 through the Hartt School Community Division. She studied cello with Carmen Irons and Eric Dahlin, and currently studies with Blake Brasch. She studies piano with Malgosia Lis. Growing up, Vien has participated in HCD Suzuki string orchestras with conductor Emmett Drake, and various chamber groups. Currently, she is the principal cellist in the Connecticut Youth Symphony with conductor Daniel D’Addio and she is a cellist in a piano quintet coached by Emyln Ngai and Sima Brodsky. She is also a percussionist and singer at her high school. 

 

Vien’s cello awards and honors include: Hartford Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Competition First Place Winner, Connecticut Youth Symphony Concerto Competition Winner, Hamden Young Artists Concerto Competition Winner, Musical Club of Hartford First Place Award and Scholarship Recipient, Charleston Spring Music Competition First Place Winner, CT Bach Festival First Place Winner, Hartt Honors Competition Best Overall String Performance and Scholarship Recipient, American Chamber Orchestra Concerto Competition finalist, the John Jorgensen Endowed Cello Scholarship recipient, American Music Talent Competition Award, Northern Regionals High School Festivals participant, and a performer in the String Honors Recitals since 2017. Vien has also won various awards in the Virtuoso Pianists Competitions, HTMA Piano Festivals, CT Bach Festival, and has performed in the Piano Honors Recitals since 2017.
