Edward R. Rozie, Jr.
Double Bass

Rick Rozie is currently the Principal Bass of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. He is also a faculty member at the Hartt School, Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz at the University of Hartford, where he has taught since 1983. He received his Bachelor of Music from the University of Hartford, Hartt School. Rick also taught at the Hartford Conservatory of Music and the University of Connecticut from 1977 to 1983. His other orchestra experience includes Philharmonica de las Americas (summer festival in Mexico City), Kansas City Philharmonic (now Kansas City Symphony), Springfield Symphony, New Haven Symphony, Connecticut Opera, and Hartford Ballet. Rick has also played with Mixashawn, Jay Hoggard Quartet, James Newton, Anthony Davis, Muhal Richard Abrams, and Andrea Bocelli, as well as at numerous jazz festivals worldwide.
