Ellie Smith is a senior at Maryville High School. She has played the cello for eight years under the instruction of Jeanine Wilkinson and has been a member in the Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestra for four years. Ellie is the principal cellist of the Maryville High School Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Mathew Wilkinson, and has participated in the ETSBOA Senior Orchestra Clinic and TMEA All-State Orchestra for the past four years. In 2019, she was the Youth Category winner of the Scruffy City Orchestra Concerto Competition. Ellie will be attending the University of Tennessee Knoxville in the fall and has received the highest level of the Volunteer Scholarship along with other scholarship offers including being named a Ned McWherter Scholar. She plans to major in Sociology and attend law school after earning her undergraduate degree in order to pursue a career as a criminal defense attorney.
