Matthew Walker is a senior at Hardin Valley Academy and has played the trombone since sixth grade. He has been in the Knoxville Symphony Youth Orchestra for one concert season. Matthew has had the privilege to study with Tom Lundberg, Jeremy Wilson, and Don Hough throughout his years with the trombone. Matthew will be attending the University of Tennessee Knoxville, pursuing a double major in Biological Sciences and a Bachelor of Arts. He has received over $35,000 in scholarships and has had the privilege to play in the Knoxville Jazz Youth Orchestra, attend the Interlochen Arts Academy Trombone Intensive, qualify for the ETSBOA All-East Blue Band four times, and qualify for TMEA’s All-State Band twice. Matthew would like to thank Chris MacTavish and Tom Lundberg for their help teaching him throughout middle and high school. He also would like to give a big thanks to his father, Josh Walker, a trombonist in the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, for always being there to encourage, influence, and motivate him to be the best he can be, not only with the trombone, but in all aspects of life.
