Sauti, meaning both “sound” and “voice” in Swahili, somehow encapsulates the essence of this piece inspired by field recordings carried out in Kenya in 2012. The work combines community radio recordings and various soundscapes of the city of Mombasa with synthesized textures and rhythmic patterns extracted from traditional West African music. This work was composed at the Arts and Technology Lab of Universidad Austral in Valdivia, Chile.
