Alicia Berneche (she/her, Nettie Fowler) has starred on opera stages around the globe with performances at Lyric Opera of Chicago, The Metropolitan Opera, the Barbican in London, and countless houses in the United States and Europe. Always enjoying the spoken word, Alicia specialized in operetta, especially those of Gilbert and Sullivan, and in musicals performed by opera houses. She has performed regularly at Music Theater Works where she started doing the operetta repertoire and has moved in recent years to standard musical theater roles, including “Agnes Gooch” in MAME, and “Martha Wilson” in WHITE CHRISTMAS. She just closed a Jeff recommended run as “Leticia Primrose” in ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY with Blank Theater Co. to rave reviews. Alicia specializes in teaching musical theatre techniques to many professionals in Chicago and New York, and is a librettist of two operas, THANK YOU, NEXT!, which had its world premiere at Milwaukee Opera Theatre, and SCIENCE FRICTION, which had its premiere at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
