Ethan Elsbernd will be in his second year of studies at the University of Iowa. After a fruitful high school performing arts experience, Ethan is driven to see it blossom into an impassioned and prolific performance career, continuously seeking perfection in his craft. Ethan has recently prepared leading and title roles in Gilbert & Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore and Domenico Cimarosa’s Il Matrimonio Segreto, both at U of I Opera. Ethan made his Smith Young Artist debut with Cedar Rapids Opera, doubling up on chorus roles (both a pirate and a policeman) for their summer 2022 production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance. Ethan is currently working with pianist Nathan Carterette to record the Three Complete Song Cycles of Franz Schubert (Die schöne Müllerin, Winterreise, and Schwanengesang).
