Céphale et Procris was French composer Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre’s only published opera, and it received poor reception at its premiere. It ran for roughly five or six performances before disappearing, but was revived again in the late 20th century as her works were rediscovered and grew to be appreciated for its creativity and ingenuity.
