Leah Dexter is praised for both her vocal and dramatic artistry and has been described by Opera News as possessing “an opulent tone and characterization to match.” Renowned for her work in contemporary opera, she has premiered numerous roles with Chicago Opera Theater, including works such as Freedom Ride, The Transformation of Jane Doe, Quamino’s Map, Taking Up Serpents, and The Weight of Light. Additional operatic engagements include appearances with Detroit Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and El Paso Opera.
A highly sought-after concert soloist, Dexter has performed with the Illinois Philharmonic, Northwestern Symphony Orchestra, DePaul Community Chorus, Champaign-Urbana Symphony, and Apollo Chorus of Chicago.
