What’s the Use of Wondrin’: A Deconstruction of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s ‘Carousel’
Aidan Joyce
Shingleton Dance Space
6PM & 6:45PM

What’s the Use of Wondrin’: A Deconstruction of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s CAROUSEL is a workshop and conversation surrounding the reimagining of the classic Rodgers & Hammerstein musical Carousel. In conjunction with Shenandoah University’s [Not Just] for Women’s Center (NJWC), we aim to take a more thoughtful and critical look at the depiction of abuse in the show, while promoting a healthier way of presenting domestic violence onstage for theater artists in the audience and also spreading awareness for the NJWC as a resource for university students. Fresh and creative takes on the style, music and choreography of some of the most iconic moments of the show will create new takeaways, even for audience members who have seen the show hundreds of times.

Suggested Show Rating: TBD
