Goodson Chapel – Recital Hall
4:15PM & 5PM
“Control, to fall from grace with peace of mind.”
Requiem is a one-act play centered around a young man who has chosen to commit suicide. Taking place during the lockdown in 2020, he begins the piece by recording himself reading off a note. Once he finishes, he turns the camera off, puts a vinyl record on and directly addresses the audience: “After this record is done playing, I am going to end my life.” What does he have to say before the record ends? The show explores his own philosophy on life, as well as the relationship he has with his family in a series of vignettes peering into his everyday life. This show is not intended to shock or instill horror with the subject matter, but rather express a real life perspective on why people make this choice, which, in truth, is a place we’ve all been to at some point in our lives.
This production is centered around around suicide and includes situations of substance abuse and self harm.
