Rosemary Myers is a director whose work spans theatre and screen. Recently she co-created (with Kaye Weeks) and directed Beep and Mort, a 20-episode puppet-based television series for pre-schoolers commissioned by ABC Kids. Season two premiered in December 2023. Prior to this Myers directed Bluey’s Big Play, the stage adaption of Ludo Studio’s Bluey, for Andrew Kay and BBC.
In 2015, her first feature film Girl Asleep opened the 2016 Berlinale Generation 14plus and went on to win the MIFF Age Critic Prize 2016, the Grand Jury Prize at the 2016 Seattle Film Festival, 2016 CinefestOZ Film Prize, and eight AACTA Award nominations including Best Film and Best Director. In 2020, the film was nominated for the Byron Kennedy AACTA for Best Indie Film of the past decade.
Before her role at Windmill Pictures, Myers was the Artistic Director of Windmill Theatre Company where she had oversight of 20 new plays. A multi-Helpmann Award nominated theatre director shows has directed have toured to hundreds of venues and festivals across the world.
Myers’s other notable work includes Artistic Director for the 2010 Out of the Box Festival, Artistic Director of Arena Theatre, and Creative Director (with Nigel Triffid and Wesley Enoch) of the 2006 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony.
In 2017 she was awarded the prestigious Australia Council Theatre Award for sustained contribution to Australian Theatre.
