Claudio Mir received a professional actor degree from La Escuela Nacional de Arte Dramatico, Palacio de Bellas Artes, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He studied theater direction at the International School of Latin American and Caribbean Theater (EITALC) in Bologna, Italy, and Havana, Cuba. Received his bachelor degree in Fine Arts from Mason Gross School of the Arts, New Brunswick, NJ, 1999, and a Masters degree in Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Rutgers University Graduate School, Newark, NJ, 2012. In  2008, he started as  program coordinator for The Collaborative, a Center for Community Based Learning, Service, and Public Scholarship. Today he is a Senior Program Coordinator for the Collaborative for Community Engagement, a department of the Division of Diversity, Inclusion, and community engagement (DICE) of Rutgers University. He has been an artistic associate for the Institute of Arts Humanities Educations, 1999-2007, and Artistic Director for the Artist Mentoring Against Racism, Drugs and Violence Summer Camp, from 1997 to the present. He is the recipient of a number of Awards including El Dorado to the best Dominican actor in 1985, the New Jersey Governor’s Award, 2001 and the Rutgers University Human Dignity Award in 2012. He comes from a family where Women are storytellers and the men musicians. Claudio Is both.
