DR. SEUSS (Writer) was born Theodor Geisel in Springfield, MA on March 2, 1904. After attending Dartmouth College and Oxford University, he began a career in advertising. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1984, two Emmy® awards and three Academy awards, Dr. Seuss was the author and illustrator of 44 books, many of which have been made into audiocassettes, animated television specials and videos. His books include The Cat in the Hat, which infused 236 simple words with rhythm, rhyme and humor, and Green Eggs and Ham which used only 50 words. Even after his death in 1991, Dr. Seuss continues to be the world’s best-selling author of children’s books.
