Gretchen Wright (she/her) is the Interim Managing Director of the Playhouse, having previously served as the theater’s Development Director for 4 years. Prior to her time at the Playhouse, she worked in a variety of roles in professional regional theater, including as Development Manager for Special Contributions and Brand Awareness at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, Associate Managing Director of Yale Repertory Theatre, Managing Director of Yale Summer Cabaret, Company Manager for Yale Repertory Theatre, and Management Assistant at Court Theatre in Chicago. She has also worked as an organizational development consultant with OPG in Woodbridge, CT. Like many in arts administration, she began her career on the performance side of the business as a freelance director, choreographer, dancer, and musician. Gretchen holds a BA in Theater and English from Duke University, an MFA from the Yale School of Drama in Theater Management, and an MBA from the Yale School of Management.
