Return to the Desert

SFO is excited to have so many returning artists in our 2024 Season. In addition to the artists photographed below, we have Scott Conner, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Ying Fang, Ryan Speedo Green, Greer Grimsley, Jonah Hoskins, Megan Marino, Nicholas Newton, Teresa Perrotta, David Portillo, Liv Redpath, Matthew Rose, Brenton Ryan, Elena Villalón and Rachel Willis-Sørensen returning in exciting roles.

Soloman Howard was last seen on the SFO stage in 2019 as Colline in La bohème. This year, Soloman returns to SFO repeating his 2016 debut as Il Commendatore in a brand new production of Don Giovanni. In addition to the Commendatore, Soloman has performed two other roles at SFO: The Duke of Verona in Roméo et Juilette and The Bonze in Madame Butterfly.

Luke Sutliff was an apprentice in 2021 and 2022. Some of you may have seen his performance as Orfeo on opening night of our 2023 Season production. We are excited to have Luke return in the role of Belcore in 2024’s The Elixir of Love.

Paula Murrihy returns to SFO as Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier after a triumphant run as La Messaggera in 2023’s Orfeo. She was an apprentice in 2006, where she sang the Second Lady in The Magic Flute. She has also performed Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus and Ruggiero in Alcina.

Zachary Nelson was an apprentice in 2012. In 2013, he returned to make his debut as Figaro in The Marriage of Figaro. In 2023, he received great acclaim for his performance as Golaud in Pelléas et Mélisande. In 2024, Zak returns as Faninal in Der Rosenkavalier.
