By Philip Grecian, based on the motion picture “A Christmas Story” written by Gene Shepherd, Leigh Brown, and Bar Clark; and on the book “In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash” by Gene Shepherd
Set in 1938, this story follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker and his quest for the Holy Grail of Christmas gifts—an official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot Range Model air rifle. Rebuffed at every turn, Ralphie plots numerous schemes to achieve his heart's desire. Will his Christmas dreams come true? Based on the beloved motion picture, this nostalgic tale of childish yearning is perfect for the whole family.

One of the most wonderful things about Christmas is that it reminds us, not just of the idea of childhood, but what it really felt like to be a kid. The larger than life of it, the teeth-rattling wonder and drama of it all... You’ll round the corner of November, and get a whiff of a specific pine tree or the feel of a certain bite in the air as fall fully gives way to frost, and all of a sudden, there it is: that feeling that you had forgotten in all your day-to-day adult-ness. This story is there to remind all of us that those days are not so far away. They can come back to us in an instant, no matter how hard the year has been or how grown-up we feel. So, from all of us at Barter— May the child who lives in you have the merriest of Christmases!
