A Message from the Principal Pops Conductor

Dear Columbus Symphony Supporter,

Welcome to the Columbus Symphony’s 2022 Holiday Pops Spectacular, a grand holiday tradition for all in central Ohio!

It’s the most wonderful time of year, and we are thrilled to share the musical splendor with you and yours in our 39th season of Holiday Pops! We ring in the holidays with the festive songs and time-honored carols you know and love, performed by our orchestra with special guests, including vocalist Tony DeSare, the Columbus Children’s Choir, and a visit from Santa himself!

This year the Symphony is featuring a special performance presented by the King Arts Complex to celebrate Kwanzaa. Kuumba will feature special choreography with dancer Eboni Edwards, drummer Massamba Diop, and narrated by Z F Taylor to honor African American culture.

The Ohio Theatre is decked out in full holiday glory with the glitz and glam of the season and the hall will be buzzing with annual traditions, including the Firefighters for Kids Toy Drive, Friends of the Columbus Symphony holiday nut sale, and the opportunity to take a photo with Santa after the performance.

As we ring in the holidays, one of the real joys of the season is the opportunity to say thank you and to wish you the very best now and throughout the new year. On behalf of the entire Columbus Symphony family, we are grateful for all that you do to shine a light of opportunity for all in our community through music and wish you all things merry and bright.

Please enjoy tonight’s performance!

Kwanzaa is a non-religious holiday that is globally celebrated from December 26 - January 1st. The holiday honors African American people, their heritage, culture, and struggles in the United States. Created by Dr. Maulana Karenga in 1966, who sought to build strong Black communities and reflects the African culture and those with ties to that history.

This work is presented on behalf of the King Arts Complex.
