In 2015, Asad co-created HYPROV (Improv Under Hypnosis) alongside international comedy icon Colin Mochrie of Whose Line Is It Anyway?. This groundbreaking show combines Asad’s mastery of hypnosis with Colin’s unparalleled comedic talent. Together, they guide audience volunteers to form an impromptu improv troupe, delivering unforgettable performances filled with uproarious laughter. HYPROV has consistently sold out venues across North America and Europe, recently completing a successful Off-Broadway run at the Daryl Roth Theatre in New York City and a Las Vegas residency at Harrah’s Showroom.
In 2024, Asad released the album An Exploration of Hypnotic Sound in collaboration with legendary singer-songwriter and composer Rufus Wainwright. This innovative project blends mesmerizing musical compositions with Asad’s expert hypnotic techniques and vocal guidance, creating a transformative auditory experience designed to inspire relaxation, introspection, creativity, and inner peace.
As a mental strength coach, Asad has worked with professional athletes, including elite tennis and basketball players, to harness the power of visualization and mental imagery to reach peak performance. He collaborated with legendary figure skating coach Brian Orser to develop a visualization app that contributed to Yuzuru Hanyu’s gold medal victories at the 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics.
Beyond sports, Asad has partnered with major corporations to provide expertise in motivation, advanced communication, and stress management. His methods have achieved notable results, such as helping Roberto Verri, host of Talk Television, lose 40 pounds in two months, and supporting Leanne Delap in achieving her health goals, as documented in The Toronto Star and The Kit.

Scottish-born Colin Mochrie is one of the most accomplished and prolific improvisers on both sides of the Atlantic. He began his career as a member of the Vancouver TheatreSports League, where he met fellow improviser Ryan Stiles. Mochrie later toured with The Second City comedy troupe before auditioning for the groundbreaking British TV show Whose Line Is It Anyway? Although he was unsuccessful in his first attempt, he eventually became a series regular for eight years until the show ended in 1998. He then joined the U.S. version on ABC, appearing in every episode and continuing with the current revival on the CW Network. Now in its ninth season, Mochrie has played across 18 seasons of the show, which airs in over 100 countries.
For the past 20 years, Mochrie has toured globally with fellow Whose Line alumnus Brad Sherwood. He also performs with orchestras across North America in The Second City Guide to the Symphony. In addition to his live performances, he authored a collection of short stories, Not Quite the Classics, which is available on Amazon. This year, he earned the title of "Last One Laughing" on Netflix's series of the same name.
Mochrie is also the co-creator and star of Hyprov: Improv Under Hypnosis, alongside world-renowned hypnotist Asad Mecci. Launched in 2015, the show has toured North America and Europe, enjoyed an Off-Broadway run, and a Las Vegas residency, and is currently on a 57-city tour. Additionally, you can hear Colin Mochrie narrating the television series Old Enough on TVO.
HYPROV (pronounced hip-rawv) is a 90-minute show that masterfully blends hypnosis and improvisation—two captivating art forms that have fascinated and entertained fans, skeptics, and everyone in between. The evening begins with hypnotist Asad Mecci inviting 20 volunteers on stage to be hypnotized. Those most responsive to hypnosis then join improv legend Colin Mochrie to create a one-of-a-kind performance, all while remaining under hypnosis. Guided by these two experts and fueled entirely by the uninhibited and subconscious creativity of the volunteers and audience, each show is an original, unforgettable theatrical experience.
Created in 2016 at Toronto's iconic Second City, HYPROV was honed through live performances before touring to prestigious festivals such as Just for Laughs London, Just for Laughs Montreal, and the Edinburgh Fringe, where it garnered rave reviews in 2016 and 2017. The show later embarked on a 100-city tour from 2019 to 2023, enjoyed a 12-week Off-Broadway run in New York City, a six-month residency at Harrah’s Las Vegas, and a 16-show engagement at the CAA Theatre in Toronto.
