Pālehua, a beautiful mountain on O‘ahu, inspired creative magic 25 years ago when Amy Hānaiali‘i and the late Willie K united there to write what have become some of Hawai‘i’s most well-known and beloved songs. The studio in Pālehua had a history of great music and special mana (power), as it was the home of R. Alex Anderson who wrote many classic hapa haole songs, including what became a Hawaiian holiday standard, Mele Kalikimaka.

To celebrate this magical place, Amy and Willie wrote Pālehua, which became an instant classic, and in the 25 years since, is now one of the most celebrated songs in Hawai‘i as well as one of the most danced to songs among hula groups around the world.
