Welcome to OKC Rep

Welcome to RepFest! I’m thrilled that you’re joining us for OKC Rep’s inaugural play reading festival. I LOVE play readings because they present an opportunity for audiences to share with artists in the act of imagination. THE COMEUPPANCE, PRIMARY TRUST, and JOHN are all very special plays. They address meaty topics, ask big questions, and do it all with that little bit of magic that you've come to expect from an OKC Rep show. To top it off, they're all written by some of the very best living American playwrights.

All of these plays lend themselves to creative use of the beautiful Te Ata Theater—the very room we're in today. As you enjoy today's performance, I hope you'll take a moment to imagine for yourself some of the ways that the play might show up physically in this space.

The sky is truly the limit.

Over the past six months, I've had the pleasure of attending play reading festivals at other theater companies across the region. The performances were electrifying, and I was in good company with hundreds of other attendees on the edges of our seats. No matter where you are, or what your experience with theater has been, to observe a play reading is clearly to be a part of something special. I'm so glad to share it with you.

Emily Comisar, Executive Artistic Director
