There are few works in the musical theatre canon as powerful, as challenging, and as deeply human as WEST SIDE STORY. Beneath the sweeping melodies, breathtaking choreography, and unforgettable love story lies a question that continues to echo across generations: What happens when fear and division prevent us from seeing one another’s humanity?

Inspired by Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” WEST SIDE STORY places that timeless story of forbidden love within the streets of 1950s New York City, where two young people find connection in a world shaped by prejudice, loyalty, and conflict. Leonard Bernstein’s music, Stephen Sondheim’s lyrics, and Jerome Robbins’ groundbreaking choreography created a work that transformed the musical theatre landscape. Yet, its power does not come only from its artistry, it comes from its honesty. The struggles faced by these characters are not confined to one neighborhood or one moment in history. They reflect the ongoing human search for belonging, dignity, and understanding.

In approaching this production, we asked ourselves how we could honor the legacy of this masterpiece while allowing today’s audiences to experience its urgency. At its heart, this is a story about young people caught between the identities placed upon them and the futures they dream of creating. It is a story about the consequences of “us versus them” thinking and the courage it takes to choose compassion over hatred.

This production also celebrates the richness of culture, language, and community that exists within the story. We embrace the Puerto Rican heritage of the Sharks and the immigrant experience at the center of the piece, recognizing that language is not a barrier, it is a bridge. Through the inclusion of Spanish supertitles for all performances, we invite more members of our community to experience this extraordinary work fully and authentically.

Theatre has the unique ability to bring strangers together in the same room and remind us of our shared humanity. WEST SIDE STORY asks us to look beyond labels, listen more deeply, and remember that every person carries a story worth knowing.

JORDAN BEYELER (she/her, Anybodys/dance captain) is thrilled to return to the Music Theater Works stage in WEST SIDE STORY. A graduate of Columbia College Chicago with a BFA in dance, previous Music Theater Works credits include assistant choreographer for CATS, swing/female dance captain in GUYS AND DOLLS, ensemble/dance captain in WHITE CHRISTMAS, and “wife”/“Apache Dancer” in JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT. Additional theater credits include “Graziella”/dance captain in WEST SIDE STORY (South Bend Civic Theatre), female swing in CABARET (Porchlight Music Theatre), “Kristine” in A CHORUS LINE, “Angel”/dance captain in ANYTHING GOES (Metropolis Performing Arts Centre), “Gypsy soloist” in LA TRAVIATA (Lyric Opera of Chicago), “Bailey”/ “Dancing Elf” in THE POLAR EXPRESS TRAIN RIDE (Universal Studios Chicago Cast), and performing aboard Norwegian Cruise Line. SAMUEL FERREIRA (he/him, ensemble Shark/swing) is beyond excited to make his professional theatre debut with Music Theater Works in WEST SIDE STORY. Originally from Brazil, he is currently pursuing a BFA in musical theatre with a dance concentration at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. Samuel discovered his passion for storytelling through dance before expanding into acting and singing and he strives to bring authenticity, athleticism, and heart to every performance. Previous credits include NEWSIES (“Romeo”/dance captain), where he also served as co-choreographer. In 2024, he was honored with the Best Featured Performer Award in Austin, Texas. ISABELLA GOMEZ-BARRIENTOS (she/her, Margarita/U/S Maria) is delighted to be back at Music Theater Works this summer! Previous Music Theater Works credits include “Agatha”/“Sarah U/S” in GUYS AND DOLLS and ensemble/“Carrie U/S” in CAROUSEL. MJ BUENO (she/her, Consuela) is a Colombian-born musical theatre performer, dancer, and choreographer based in Chicago. She graduated from Columbia College Chicago in May 2026, earning a B.A. in Musical Theatre. Her performance credits include “Patty Simcox”/dance captain in GREASE and ensemble/“Leading Player Understudy” in PIPPIN at Columbia College Chicago, as well as “Rosie”/dance captain in CAMP ROCK with The Beautiful City Project. As a choreographer, she has created work for the Musical Theatre Dance Concert at Columbia College Chicago and served as assistant choreographer for the Grease Tribute Concert presented in partnership with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at the Rialto Theatre. WILL FISCHER (he/him, ensemble Jet/swing) is thrilled to be making his professional Chicago debut with Music Theater Works! Will is a junior at the Chicago College of Performing Arts where he has been seen in SEUSSICAL (“Wickersham #3”) and Anton Chekhov’s THREE SISTERS (“Solyony”). JAXSON SMITH (he/him, Baby John) is excited to be making his return to the Music Theater Works stage after debuting with the company as a swing in CATS. Other Chicago credits include: JEKYLL AND HYDE (swing) and CRUEL INTENTIONS (ensemble) with Kokandy Productions. At its heart, WEST SIDE STORY is a show about family and love being tainted by hatred, prejudice, and systematic oppression. Jaxson feels incredibly lucky to be creating art with such importance at a time like this. Hate will never win, even in the darkest of hours. JORDAN “J.RO” ORDOÑEZ (he/they, Luis) is a Chicago-based dance artist/athlete, actor who is a singer, teaching artist, writer, and community organizer. He is a public health pharmacist turned artist with a black belt in Shotokan Karate. J.RO is a grateful guest in house and hip-hop dance, a 2024 graduate of The Academy at Black Box Acting and a Chicago improv student with the Annoyance Theater. He is the co-founder of Jus.Be House Collective and Concrete Circle, a four-time dancer and co-captain for the Chicago Bulls 312 Crew, and two-time NBA Allstar Weekend (ESPN) featured dancer. If not on the dance floor, you’ll find J.RO taking a long walk with a good podcast in his ears or taking advantage of his AMC A-List membership. EMMA JEAN EASTLUND (she/her, ensemble Jet/U/S Anybodys) is a Chicago-based performer and creative. She most recently understudied at City Lit Theater in SCARAMOUCHE and was also seen on the Music Theater Works stage as “Bombalurina” in CATS. Additional credits with Music Theater Works include GUYS AND DOLLS (“Hot Box Girl”), BRIGADOON, BILLY ELLIOT, and IRVING BERLIN’S WHITE CHRISTMAS. Other credits include HAIRSPRAY (“Velma Von Tussel", Uptown Music Theater of Highland Park) and SPONGEBOB THE MUSICAL (Surging Films). She holds a BFA in musical theatre with a minor in dance from Millikin University. She dedicates this performance to her parents for paving the way and for being her very first dance teachers, and to the rest of her family and her husband, all devoted servants to art, without whom she would surely be lost. THOMAS M. SHEA (he/him, swing Doc/Glad Hand/Lt. Schrank) returns to Music Theater Works for his 24th show as a performer, having recently portrayed “Mushnik” in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, “Max Bialystock” in MEL BROOKS’ THE PRODUCERS, and “Charles” in PIPPIN. He has been seen at MTW (and back in the Light Opera Works days) in shows ranging from Gilbert and Sullivan, Victor Herbert, and Sigmund Romberg to Jerry Herman, Kurt Weill, and Leonard Bernstein. In addition to performing, he has directed, assistant directed, associate directed, and is currently MTW’s talk-back lecturer dating back to 2008. Tom has worked extensively in the Chicagoland area for over 35 years with companies including Drury Lane Oakbrook, Second City Theatricals, City Lit, and Theo Ubique. He is represented on screens by Talent Group, and on stage by his own damn self.

LUKE NOWAKOWSKI (any, Tony) is overjoyed to return to Music Theater Works, where he previously appeared as “Charlie Dalrymple” in BRIGADOON, to bring this timeless story to life. Most recently, Luke was seen at Theo Ubique as “Joe Hardy” in DAMN YANKEES, following his Jeff Award–nominated performance as “Bobby Strong” in URINETOWN. Selected Chicago credits include 42 BALLOONS and THE LORD OF THE RINGS – A MUSICAL TALE (Chicago Shakespeare Theater), THE IRISH… AND HOW THEY GOT THAT WAY, TITANIQUE, and ANYTHING GOES (Porchlight Music Theatre), and FUN HOME, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, and BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL (Paramount Theatre). Regionally, he has appeared in DEAR JACK, DEAR LOUISE and LITTLE WOMEN (Peninsula Players), and internationally in THE LORD OF THE RINGS – A MUSICAL TALE in Auckland, New Zealand. Luke was a national finalist in the NATS Musical Theater Competition in New York City. In addition to performing, he is a writer and podcaster debuting new work this fall. He is represented by Gray Talent.

MATT ROSIN (he/him, Doc) is honored to be a part of this cast for WEST SIDE STORY at Music Theater Works. Born and raised in Indiana, he spent most of his adult life in Arizona before moving to Chicago. Matt's theater background consists of over 20 years of performing, directing, producing, and teaching improvisational acting– specifically, comedy. As a later-in-life second act, he decided to move to the theater town of Chicago and try his hand at scripted, traditional theater. He is a graduate of The Academy at Black Box Acting and is represented professionally by the Paonessa Talent Agency. He is loving this journey.

HARMONY ROSE (she/her, Rosalia/U/S Anita) is a performer, choreographer, and NASM certified personal trainer from Los Angeles, CA. She is currently pursuing her BFA in musical theatre from Columbia College Chicago and is thrilled to be making her Music Theater Works debut! Recent credits include “Mitchie”/co-choreographer in CAMP ROCK THE MUSICAL with The Beautiful City Project, “Maureen” in RENT at Columbia College Chicago, and “Eponine” with The International Lyric Academy in Vicenza, Italy. He is also co-founder of Chicago Youth TheatreFest now in its 10th year.

JENNY COUCH (she/her, Velma) is back at Music Theater Works after appearing in ANNIE, GUYS AND DOLLS, MEL BROOKS’ THE PRODUCERS, and PIPPIN! She's performed at theaters all around Chicago including Drury Lane, Metropolis PAC, Kokandy, and Streamline. Now the interesting stuff: outside of acting she loves to sew and make her own clothes, host dinner parties, and explore the city on foot. Much love to her agents at TXA, her family, and Eric. JULIET LOPEZ-GUTIERREZ (she/her, Teresita) is thrilled to be making her Music Theater Works debut! Being a part of WEST SIDE STORY is especially meaningful in today’s social climate, and Juliet is so grateful to contribute to the telling of this culturally significant story. ISABELLA RUANO (she/her, Maria) is so excited to perform her dream role in WEST SIDE STORY! She holds degrees in musical theatre and vocal performance from Oklahoma City University. NATHANIEL URIE (he/him, A-Rab) fell in love with performing at the age of 10 after watching his sister in a school musical and realizing there was no choice but to follow her lead. At 15, to prepare for a production of WEST SIDE STORY at the 5th Avenue Theater, Nathaniel joined Olympic Ballet School, where he discovered the beauty and intensity of classical training. In 2021, Nathaniel began his studies at University of Arizona School of Dance, receiving rigorous training in ballet, modern, and jazz. During his time there, he was featured in Gerald Arpino’s LIGHT RAIN and presented two original choreographic works of his own. To continue developing as an artist, he also pursued voice lessons through the school of music and starred in the short film THE DANCER, earning the Best Actor award. Nathaniel graduated magna cum laude in 2025, with dual degrees in marketing and dance, and promptly moved to glorious Chicago. He has just finished his first season with Chicago Repertory Ballet, where he performed the role of “Mercutio” in THE CAPULETS. Nathaniel is thrilled to make his professional theater debut with MTW and to revisit the show that first inspired him to become a dancer. IG: Nathaniel.Urie

Training under his ballet master, he's appeared as “Drosselmeyer,” “Sugar Plum Prince” (NUTCRACKER), and “White Rabbit” (ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND). ALEX VILLASEÑOR (he/him, Assistant Choreographer, Indio/U/S Chino) is a Chicago based performer. PAULETH JAUREGUI (she/her, Anita) is a singer, dancer, actress, and choreographer whose work is rooted in musical theater and movement-driven storytelling. She is thrilled to appear as “Anita” in WEST SIDE STORY with Music Theater Works – a role that reflects her passion for culturally driven storytelling. Pauleth has shared her voice and culture through performances such as SANTOS & SANTOS with The Loop Players, EL NOS MINTIÓ and CONTRA RITMO with Teatro Inovarte, ELVIRA with Colectivo El Pozo, and SCRATCHING THE SURFACE at the Artemisia Fall Festival (2019). She’s also had work featured at the Chicago International Latino Theater Festival Destinos (2023, 2024, 2025). As a singer, she has brought that same cultural expression to stages including the Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park, the House of Blues, and festivals throughout Chicago. She carries this commitment into her collaborative and teaching practice as a choreographer, with credits including: DRACULA: THE MUSICAL, DESCENDANTS JR., MOANA JR., HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL JR., and CONTRA RITMO (created with Chicago Hispano Artists, Bravo Performing Arts, and Ovation Studio). HENRY CARTAYA (he/him, Pepe/U/S Bernardo, Fight Captain) is incredibly happy to be a part of the awesome community at Music Theater Works with the company of WEST SIDE STORY! Having graduated with a BFA in music theatre from Illinois Wesleyan University, he is very grateful to be able to present his authentic self on stage and to be a part of such a talented cast. ELLIOTT HANSEN (he/him, Snowboy) is thrilled to be making his Music Theater Works debut in WEST SIDE STORY! He is a recent graduate of Northwestern University, where he studied theatre and psychology. He also performed in numerous productions, including: KINKY BOOTS, CABARET, and MATILDA. Elliott has trained with the Prague Shakespeare Company and at Steps on Broadway in NYC, developing a strong foundation in classical text and dance. ALBERT JOHNSTON (he/him, Diesel/U/S Riff) is thrilled to be returning to Music Theater Works in WEST SIDE STORY! Albert previously appeared in MTW’s ANNIE (ensemble) and CATS (“Coricopat”). He has also performed with the Devonshire Playhouse in GYPSY (“Tulsa”) and ONCE UPON A MATTRESS (“Jester”). Albert grew up in Arizona where he graduated with a BA in performance and movement from Arizona State. While there, he was fortunate to work with The Phoenix Theatre Company in BANDSTAND (ensemble swing), AN AMERICAN IN PARIS (ensemble), and A CHORUS LINE (“Al DeLuca”).

SASHA GERRITSON (she/her, Director) is an opera and musical theater stage director who directs shows for many local and regional companies. Most recently having directed the critically acclaimed Music Theater Works’ production of CAROUSEL, in addition to previous Music Theater Works’ shows GUYS AND DOLLS, BRIGADOON, and IRVING BERLIN’S WHITE CHRISTMAS, Sasha is proud to return for WEST SIDE STORY. Known for her expertise in the standard repertoire, Sasha is also a highly sought after opera director, having most recently directed PUCCINI’S MANON LESCAUT and IL ASSASSINIO NELLA CATTEDRALE for The Opera Festival of Chicago, where she serves as general director. In addition to her work as a stage director, Sasha is a choral conductor and serves as the director of music ministries for the Park Ridge Community Church. Previous work as a choral conductor included positions with the Chicago Children's Choir and Merit School of Music. Sasha is a proud board member of Music Theater Works, in addition to The Goodman Theatre, the Brookfield Zoo, and DePaul University, where she serves as vice chair of the Board of Trustees. Sasha served as the opera and music theatre director of Northeastern Illinois University from 2010-2022, has directed for MUSICA NELLE MARCHE (Urbino, Italy), OPERA PICCOLA, DePaul University, and the Cherub Music Theatre program for Northwestern University, in addition to various other summer programs in the area. Sasha lives in Glenview with her husband Eugene and their two sons, Nate and Josh.

CLAYTON CROSS (he/him, Co-Choreographer) works nationwide as a choreographer, performer, and dance instructor. Clayton most recently appeared in the ensemble of WHITE CHRISTMAS at Paramount Theatre,  as well as ensemble and dance captain of ROCK OF AGES with Mercury Theater Chicago and with Drury Lane in the ensemble and dance captain in GREASE as well as ensemble in EVITA.  Clayton recently choreographed GUYS AND DOLLS and BRIGADOON at Music Theater Works and was last seen on the MTW stage as “Scuttle” in Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID and  in the ensemble of MAMMA MIA, and as choreographer for IRVING BERLIN’S WHITE CHRISTMAS and BILLY ELLIOT THE MUSICAL.  He was choreographer in residence with Music Theater Works under the direction of Rudy Hogenmiller for seven seasons where he choreographed and/or performed in JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT,  “Benjamin;” HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME; HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING; INTO THE WOODS; ANYTHING GOES ensemble; PIRATES OF PENZANCE ensemble;  PETER PAN “Nana/Croc;” GYPSY “Tulsa,” MAME ensemble; CANDIDE; GUYS AND DOLLS; MY FAIR LADY; DIE FLADERMAUS; THE FANTASTIKS “Mute;” and DAMN YANKEES “Eddie;” and in A CHORUS LINE as “Greg” with Porchlight Music Theatre. Clayton also performed at Marriott Theatre in LA CAGE as “Mercedes.” Clayton is an instructor and choreographer for M.A. Dance Nation, a Texas based traveling convention circuit, where he has been choreographing, teaching, and judging since 1999. Clayton has five times been a consultant and contributed choreography for the Capital One Bowl’s All American Halftime Show. Throughout his 25 year career as a dancer he has worked with Robert Battle, Fernando Bujones, Sherry Zunker, Paul Taylor & Anne Reinking. Clayton’s television credits include “Every Dancer Has a Story,” a PBS special on the River North Chicago Dance Company, where he was a company member for 10 seasons and toured nationally, and internationally. Clayton Cross is originally from Midland, TX where he received his early training from La Petite Dance Co., Coleman Academy, and the Midland Community Theatre as a member of the Pickwick Players. Clayton holds a double B.F.A. in Ballet and Modern Dance from Texas Christian University.

ISA RAMIREZ (she/her, Co-Choreographer) is thrilled to be coming back to Music Theater Works as a choreographer -- especially for this show! MTW credits include: BRIGADOON (“Maggie Anderson”/ensemble), IRVING BERLIN’S WHITE CHRISTMAS (ensemble), and ZORRO! THE MUSICAL (ensemble). Isa has also had the pleasure of performing in other regional theaters such as: OKLAHOMA (“Ado Annie” and “Gertie”), WEST SIDE STORY (“Rosalia” and “Margarita”), and MATILDA (ensemble/U/S acrobat) at the Fireside Theater, and IN THE HEIGHTS (ensemble/2nd U/S “Daniela”) at the Marriott Theater. When Isa isn't performing she is teaching dance at Gus Giordano Dance School and dancing with their Legacy Dance Company. LINDA MADONIA (she/her, Music Director) is thrilled to be back at Music Theater Works for WEST SIDE STORY where she has previously music directed CATS, GUYS AND DOLLS, SHREK, MAMMA MIA!, and CAMELOT. Other recent projects include JERSEY BOYS, ROCK OF AGES, and SISTER ACT at Mercury Theater Chicago. ANYTHING GOES, CABARET, and A CHORUS LINE at Porchlight Music Theatre. Linda also serves as the contractor for the Chicago Federation of Musicians for Porchlight Music Theatre and Music Theater Works. Linda is the vocal coach for the master’s degree program in music theatre pedagogy at Carthage College and owns American Eagle Productions, which has been at the forefront of theater education in the Chicago area for the past 35 years.

NGA SZE CHAN (CECILIA) (she/her, Properties Designer) is excited to return to Music Theater Works for her fifth production as the properties designer. Based in Chicago, Cecilia is a scenic & properties designer dedicated to creating fun and meaningful worlds with storytellers in communities within and around the city. She is elated to be part of the team bringing WEST SIDE STORY to life. Recent properties credits include CATS, ANNIE, and GODSPELL (Music Theater Works), OUR TOWN and  YOU CAN’T TAKE IT WITH YOU (Elgin Community College), DOG SEES GOD (Governors State University), and the 38th Annual Young Playwrights Festival (Pegasus Theatre Chicago). Currently, she is working on THE THREEPENNY OPERA at Northeastern Illinois University. 

KRISTEN BRINATI (she/her, Costume Designer) works in Chicagoland and is thrilled to be back for her 22nd consecutive show with Music Theater Works as the costume designer for WEST SIDE STORY. Kristen has worn many hats in MTW’s costume and wardrobe departments as designer, wardrobe head, and run crew. She also designed costumes for Music Theater Work's Youth programs. Also recently, Kristen is designing A CRIPPLE CREEK CHRISTMAS CAROL at The Raue Center of the Performing Arts.

MELANIE SASO (she/her, Hair, Wig, and Makeup Designer) is a licensed cosmetologist with 15 years experience. She moved to Chicago in 2019 to become a part of the entertainment industry. Her vintage hair design is featured in Lionsgate films; MURDER AT THE EMBASSY (Nov 2025 release - filmed abroad) and INVITATION TO A MURDER (2023). She is part of the Music Theater Works design team and serves as the HWMU Department Head. Her recent design work featured in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, GUYS & DOLLS, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, and THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE. She has been backstage running wigs with Music Theater Works since 2022. She joined Lyric Opera in the wig department, for MEDEA. She served as the hair and wig designer for Opera Festival of Chicago 2025 Season, L’AMORE DEI TRE REI and PAGLIACCI. She served as a part time instructor assistant for Northwestern University - Binen School of Music’s Opera Program; THE MAGIC FLUTE, HANSEL AND GRETEL, COSI FAN TUTTE, THE EMPEROR OF ATLANTIS, and POPPEA. She worked with Chicago Opera Theater as an assistant on ALBERT HERRING in 2022.

FORREST GREGOR (he/him, Production Sound Engineer) Music Theater Works: GODSPELL, GUYS & DOLLS, and THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE. His work has been heard at many theatres around the Chicago area including Chicago Shakespeare, TimeLine, Writers, Northlight, Studebaker, Drury Lane, Metropolis Centre, The Gift, Northwestern, and the University of Chicago. Regionally his work has been heard at Theatre Aspen (CO), Papermill Playhouse (NJ), and Riverside Theatre (FL). BOB KNUTH (he/him, Scenic Designer) is delighted to reunite with Music Theater Works for WEST SIDE STORY. Bob is a 17-time Chicago JEFF Award nominee and two-time winner for Outstanding Scenic Design. For 16 years, Bob served as creative director and resident scenic designer for The Second City, collaborating on projects in Chicago, Toronto, Hollywood, and at the Kennedy Center. In 2021, he transitioned to freelance design and higher education, and now proudly directs, designs, and teaches at Lake Forest College.

Recent scenic design highlights include FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, GODSPELL (Music Theater Works), MISERY, MIRACLE ON DIVISION STREET, and ADMISSIONS (Citadel Theatre), along with multiple Mercury Theater Chicago productions including YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN (JEFF nomination), CLUE (JEFF nomination), JERSEY BOYS, ROCK OF AGES, and THE ADDAMS FAMILY.

ANDREW MEYERS (he/him, Lighting Designer) is thrilled to be designing his very first WEST SIDE STORY! and to be collaborating with Sasha Gerritson again. He has designed many shows for Music Theater Works/Light Opera Works and has designed shows for Chicago Shakespeare, Chicago Opera Theatre, Chamber Opera Chicago, Remy Bumppo Theatre Company, and a great many others, locally and around the country.

This will be the third time he has lit a version of ROMEO AND JULIET, this year, having lit a student production and an evening-length version for Ballet Memphis.

JUSTIN KONO (he/him, Conductor) is excited to return to Music Theater Works in a slightly different capacity after being part of the orchestra and providing electronic music design for SHREK, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, CAROUSEL, LEGALLY BLONDE, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, ANNIE, and CATS as well as providing music direction for ZORRO, PIPPIN, GODSPELL, and the 2026 Producers Gala. Other recent drum and electronic music design credits include the Broadway In Chicago and Porchlight Music Theatre company of TITANIQUE; ROCK OF AGES and JERSEY BOYS (Mercury Theater Chicago), being a first call sub for Drury Lane Theater and the Marriott Theater, and percussion for THE MUSIC OF SQUARE ENIX with AWR Music Productions. In addition to theater activities, Justin is the music director at First Congregational Church in Downers Grove and plays drums with the Brazilian funk/jazz project FUNKERIA. He is also a freelance conductor, orchestrator, arranger, and producer. Though Justin does not endorse higher education - rest assured, he has endured many years of it. NICK SANDYS (he/him, Fight & Intimacy Choreographer) has designed combat for Music Theater Works’s/Light Opera Works’s productions of CAMELOT (x2), ZORRO THE MUSICAL, RAGTIME, BILLY ELLIOT, and GUYS & DOLLS, and he also appeared in Light Opera Works's MY FAIR LADY (2016 & 2009) and CAMELOT (2012).  He is a fight master and certified teacher with The Society of American Fight Directors and his choreography has been seen all over Chicagoland and beyond, including more than 30 productions at Goodman and 60+ operas and musicals for Lyric Opera of Chicago, as well as at The Metropolitan Opera, Canadian Opera Company, and on and off Broadway. His fight choreography has earned four Joseph Jefferson nominations, winning for Shattered Globe’s REQUIEM FOR A HEAVYWEIGHT (2008). Nick has taught stage combat at The Theatre School at DePaul University since 1995 and was awarded the 2019 Adjunct Excellence In Teaching Award. W: NickSandys.com

ADAM JEZL-SIKORSKI (he/him; Head Electrician) is excited to return to Music Theater Works for his fourth production with the company! Adam is a freelance electrician and lighting designer based in the Chicagoland area. He previously served as the assistant audio, lighting, and media manager at Paramount Theatre, with credits including FROZEN, WAITRESS, THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, CATS, TRUE WEST, and COME FROM AWAY. Selected professional experience includes Kokandy Productions, THEO Ubique, Opera Omaha, Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, and the Beverly Arts Center. He holds an MFA in stage design with an emphasis in lighting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film. STEPHANIE FARINA (she/her, Sound Designer) is a Chicago-based sound designer, musical mixer, and educator. Past Music Theater Works credits include ANNIE. Stephanie’s mixing credits include, BLUE, TWILIGHT: GODS (Michigan Opera Theatre); PROXIMITY, FACTOTUM, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, TWILIGHT: GODS, WEST SIDE STORY, THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR (Lyric Opera of Chicago), and 10 years at the Goodman Theatre. Stephanie is the head of sound design at The Theatre School at DePaul University, as well as a journeymen in the IATSE Local 2 of Chicago.

NIHAN BAYSAL (she/her, Assistant Stage Manager) is a 2024 graduate of Lawrence University with a B.A. in theatre production and minors in linguistics and Spanish. MOLLY GARRISON (she/her, Stage Manager) is making her Music Theater Works debut. She is a Chicago based freelance stage manager and lighting designer. Recent credits included production stage manager for Waa-Mu at Northwestern University, assistant stage manager for LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at the Marriott Theatre, and the assistant stage manager/lighting supervisor for The Acting Company's national tour of TWO TRAINS RUNNING and THE COMEDY OF ERRORS. She would like to thank Chris and Kyle for the opportunity and her wife Natalie for all her love and support.

ALICE SALAZAR (she/her, Hair/Wig/Makeup Designer) has been a professional hairdresser, long hair dressing educator and freelance makeup artist for more than 20 years in the Chicago area. She turned her passion to wig design and received two wig certifications from DePaul University Theater School which led her to working in several companies in the Chicago area including Lyric Opera, Music Theater Works, Metropolis Theater, Haymarket Opera, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, and Northwestern University Opera School. She completed six UK tours with Chamber Opera Chicago, performing in Edinburgh Fringe and Jane Austen 200 in Winchester.

KATE DEVORE (she/her, Dialect Coach) has served as voice and/or dialect coach at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Goodman Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Lyric Opera of Chicago, A Red Orchid Theatre, Drury Lane, Second City, Piven Theatre Workshop, Writer’s Theatre, Theo Ubique, and Chicago Dramatists. Film/TV credits include “The Outfit,” “Ripley,” “Caddo Lake,” “Last Days,” and “A Prayer for the Dying.” In addition to her work as a voice, speech, and presence coach, Kate is also a speech pathologist specializing in professional voice, teacher and author based in Chicago (TotalVoice.net). In addition to coaching speakers ranging from actors to executives, she is co-author of “The Voice Book: Caring For, Protecting, and Improving Your Voice,” she created the self-study eBook, “Accent Modification: Neutral American Dialect,” and co-created downloadable self-study materials for accent/dialects available through AccentHelp.com. She has a long history teaching voice/dialects at The School at Steppenwolf, Columbia College Chicago, Acting Studio Chicago, and the Summer Vocology Institute. MICHAEL ALBERT, M.A., CI/CT (he/him, ASL Interpreter) is pleased to be working again with Music Theater Works, where he has interpreted FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, GUYS AND DOLLS and CAROUSEL. Other recent credits include INHERIT THE WIND at the Goodman Theater, JUDGMENT DAY at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, and FIDDLER ON THE ROOF for the Lyric Opera of Chicago. He has also interpreted productions for Steppenwolf, The American, Victory Gardens, Apollo, Lincolnshire Marriott, Drury Lane, Lookingglass, Stage Left, Trap Door, and Merle Reskin theaters. While in Atlanta, Michael interpreted for several touring Broadway productions, including RENT, JEKYLL AND HYDE, DAMN YANKEES, SHOWBOAT, LES MISERABLES, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, and WEST SIDE STORY.  He has also performed interpreting services for music and storytelling festivals, local television and news programs, and government press conferences.

BRONWYN SCHLAEFER (she/her, ASL Interpreter)
