Riverside Center for the Performing Arts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
Hi Friends! It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to The Riverside Center for the Performing Arts. As we begin our 27th Season, we enter it with strength, resilience and gratitude. Theater Operations is now a 501 C 3, nonprofit organization. This allows us to join the ranks of all the professional regional theater companies in the country. It also allows us to fortify our theater by being able to accept grants, sponsorships, and donations at all levels. Riverside Strong allows us to look to the future with confidence while building additional streams of revenue.
The performing arts are an essential component of the health and well-being of a community. Riverside takes that responsibility very seriously and relishes the role that we play in our region and community. We have become a safe space for people to leave their cares behind for a few hours and be transported to another time and place while participating in quality entertainment. “It is not the voice that commands the story: it is the ear.” We need you, and we are glad you are here. You are just as much a part of the production as the performers and musicians on the stage. That is why we choose these shows for you!
This Season brings a terrific mixture of fun and rock and roll with Heartbreak Hotel, epic with Jesus Christ Superstar and To Kill a Mockingbird, edgy and riveting with the Pulitzer Prize winning musical, Next to Normal and classic with The Sound of Music and White Christmas. Something for everyone. As I always say, “We all get to do what we love to do here at Riverside because all of you love coming here to support us”. Thanks for the vote of confidence. Thanks for your generosity. Thank you for supporting the live arts!

As we journey through Heartbreak Hotel, we are not merely retelling the rise of Elvis Presley — we are exploring the heart of the man behind the myth. This musical is not just about a famous voice or the electrifying persona that captivated the world. It’s about the fragile humanity of a young man from humble beginnings, struggling to find his place in a world that was changing as quickly as his own fame.
Elvis Presley came from nothing. He was born in a small house, raised by a close-knit family in the working-class neighborhoods of Tupelo and Memphis. Like many artists before and after him, his story contains a deep desire to be understood. Heartbreak Hotel seeks to peel back the layers of Elvis the icon to reveal Elvis the person. This isn’t just a show about record-breaking hits, it’s about the emotional cost of fame, the pressure of expectation, and the complex journey of a man whose own self-doubt was as loud as the screams of his adoring fans.
Elvis was, at his core, vulnerable — a man who wrestled with the pressure to be perfect while still holding on to his authenticity. He made mistakes, hurt the ones he loved, and faced battles that most of us will never understand. But through it all, his love for music and his desire to touch the souls of others remained unwavering. His music was, and still is, a bridge between our most tender emotions and our most powerful dreams.
In bringing Heartbreak Hotel to the stage, we want to take the audience beyond the spectacle of Elvis’s persona and invite them into the heart of his journey. We want to remind them of the young man who began with nothing but a guitar and a dream, who poured his soul into every note, and whose greatest legacy isn’t just the fame he achieved, but the humanity he shared.
Thank you for joining us on this emotional ride through the highs and lows of one of music's greatest icons — but more importantly, through the life of a man who never stopped searching for love, understanding, and his place in the world. I would like to thank this phenomenal Cast and Crew for their hard work, patience, and care to telling Riverside’s production of Heartbreak Hotel.
