As a National Historic Landmark (2021), the Patsy Cline Historic House at 608 South Kent Street in Winchester, Virginia, offers a window into the renowned country music singer, Patsy Cline's early road to stardom. Located in a working-class neighborhood in the City of Winchester, Virginia, this modest house was the family home of country music legend, Patsy Cline (born Virginia "Ginny" Patterson Hensley). When Cline was sixteen, she moved here with her mother, younger brother and sister. She lived here consecutively for five years (1948–1953) and then intermittently until June 1957, longer than in any other place during her lifetime. The Patsy Cline Historic House was her home when she started singing professionally, made a name for herself in regional country music circles, and launched her national career on Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts, which led to her first hit “Walkin' After Midnight” (Billboard #2 C&W, #12 Pop). The Patsy Cline Historic House embodies her spirit and signifies her "hometown" roots; where she got her start, often returned, and found her final resting place at nearby Shenandoah Memorial Park.

Join us on Saturday, August 31, 2024 as we celebrate Patsy Cline's birthday! Hosted each year on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, this event includes food, special Pasty Cline programs, discounted Pasty Cline Historic House tours, merchandise, live music and the opportunity to meet Patsy Cline's daughter. Patsy Cline was born Virginia Patterson Hensley, in a Winchester hospital, on September 8, 1932.
