DIRECTOR’S NOTE and special thanks
It has been an honor to work with the cast this year. Watching such a rush of people show up to auditions and getting to see all the talent and energy was exciting. Since inheriting the club from its previous directors, I have put so much care into continuing to establish foundations that will serve it long after I graduate and it was nice to finally see a hungry sea of talent in fishnets ready to say they wanted to help carry this show all the way to the stage of The PAC. It’s a facelift from our usual venue of campus center south, and we are grateful for the opportunity to show off that we are not your typical shadow cast. Thank you to Maddie Andree for helping elevate the choreography of this semester’s performance with Blue Skies and Science Fiction. I’d also like to take this moment to highlight my assistant director, Riley. For allowing me to mentor her, be her friend, and most importantly, make mistakes. Everything on this stage has so much love and care put into it by everyone involved and we hope that will be more than clear. Thanks to our sponsors, my producer Ash, and especially thank you to all previous shadowcasts who paved the way to the big five zero. -Jay Barbeau

Producer's Note / Parting Words
When I first came to Purchase, I had no intention of staying; it was merely a stepping stone when my dream school was too expensive. Despite this, I was gonna do everything in my power to make the time I DID have here my own.  Around Halloween my Freshman year, my partner at the time and I went to Zombie Prom, at the Stood, and after ~10 minutes, came to the consensus “hey, this event kinda sucks.” Thankfully, we noticed the posters around campus on the way and said “hey, isn’t Rocky Horror happening right now as well?” I saw the show, had so much fun, and then next semester, I made the decision that I was going to audition. In Spring ‘23, me, who has never done theatre in my life, played Dr. Frank N’ Furter for the PCPS. And that fringe decision from the fall altered the trajectory of my undergraduate years. Since then, since then, I have played Riff Raff, Magenta, the Usherette, Transylvanians, and since Spring 2024, I’ve been the producer to the PCPS.  That show completely broke me out of my shell, gave me the opportunity to try things I would’ve never tried otherwise, meet some of the most important people I have right now, students, alumni, and beyond, and most importantly: it showed me a community of like-minded weirdos I can carry with me, and continue to explore. Rocky is joy manifest, queer or otherwise. It’s a place where judgment is dead and buried and free expression reigns supreme, and has been for the last half a century. I’m overjoyed that I get to be here running the show for such a landmark. I write this because on top of all of the responsibilities I’ve taken on this last semester, I have also begun the process of getting my affairs in order to graduate and leave the PoorChoice Picture Show. Being a part of such a group has been among the greatest joys of my college career, and it’s something I will forever hold dear. I’ve gotten to know only a handful of other casts thus far, but none of them hold the same air to me that the Purchase cast does. We truly have something special here that I am honored I’ve gotten to nurture and see grow into what it is today. I’m immensely proud. I truly love the people I’ve gotten to work with, and would like to tip my hat to my collaborators on the production team. Jay, you’ve always been a fantastic director, and it’s been an absolute joy to put this show on with you for the last 4 semesters. To Riley, Abby, Maddie, and whoever else joined/is to join the production team; you’ve made me so proud this semester, and I know that once I’m out, the cast will be in the best hands they could’ve been in. I won’t be TOTALLY gone yet, but I just wanted to express my gratitude while I’m here. So thank you, so much.

Don’t Dream It, Be It,
Ash Cestone
