Who's Who in Production

KAREY KIRKPATRICK (Book, Music and Lyrics) began his career as a screen and songwriter for Disney Animation, where he penned The Rescuers Down Under and James and the Giant Peach. With more than a dozen feature films produced, screenplay credits include Chicken Run, Charlotte’s Web, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, The Spiderwick Chronicles, Chicken Run 2, Over The Hedge and Smallfoot—the latter two he also directed. He directed the film Imagine That starring Eddie Murphy and wrote and performed on the film’s soundtrack. Along with his brother, Wayne, he co-wrote all of the songs for Smallfoot, and the team paired with co-book writer John O’Farrell to write the Broadway musical Something Rotten! (Tony and Grammy nominations). He is currently writing the new Peanuts animated feature for Apple.

WAYNE KIRKPATRICK (Music and Lyrics). JOHN O’FARRELL (Book) is one of the UK’s best-known comic authors and scriptwriters. Best-selling books include Things Can Only Get Better, The Best A Man Can Get, An Utterly Impartial History of Britain and The Man Who Forgot His Wife. His novels have been translated into 30 languages and adapted for television and radio. Other credits include “Spitting Image,” “Have I Got News For You,” Chicken Run and Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget. He co-wrote the hit Broadway musical Something Rotten!, and for London’s West End, he wrote the book for Just For One Day: The Live Aid Musical

JERRY ZAKS (Original Direction) most recently directed his 26th Broadway show, The Music Man starring Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster. He has received four Tony Awards and been nominated eight times. He began his career directing the extraordinary plays of Christopher Durang and John Guare. He directed the award-winning film Marvin’s Room, starring Meryl Streep and Diane Keaton. Mr. Zaks is a founding member of the Ensemble Studio Theatre. He received the SDC’s George Abbott Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre. He graduated from Dartmouth in 1967, received an M.F.A. from Smith College in 1969, and was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from Dartmouth in 1999. He is a 2013 inductee to the Theater Hall of Fame.
