Tributary
Composer / Music: Jean Sibelius / Valse Triste and Knudåge Riisager / Etudes

The beauty and grace of classical ballet comes alive in Edwaard Liang’s Tributary. The curtain rises on four dancers dressed in dazzling white tutus, but the stage quickly fills to 47 dancers in white, all vying for the audience’s attention. This performance has everything – from the graceful pas de deux to the wildly tumultuous movement of dozens of dancers – representing the best of classical ballet.

From Edwaard: “What really inspired me to choreograph Tributary for BalletMet was the love of classical ballet. BalletMet has always been an ambitious organization. We wanted to bring this type of huge production to the stage here in Columbus. Very rarely do you find ballets that have 47 dancers on stage, and the power of just having this visual of that many dancers celebrating dance and music and classical ballet is everything to me.”
