Liuwenji Wang joined the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra in September 2026. Prior to joining the BPO, she was a section violinist with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, where she served from 2023. She has also been a tenured member of the Britt Music Festival Orchestra since 2025. From 2021 to 2022, she served as Associate Concertmaster of both the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra and the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic Orchestra.

Ms. Wang holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Oberlin Conservatory, a Master’s degree from Rice University, and a Graduate Performance Diploma from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Throughout her orchestral career, she has had the opportunity to perform under the direction of acclaimed conductors including Alan Gilbert, Marin Alsop, and Daniel Harding.

As a soloist, Ms. Wang was selected to perform Elizabeth Ogonek’s Violin Concerto, In Silence with the Oberlin Contemporary Ensemble in 2018. In 2012, she performed Bach’s Double Violin Concerto in D minor with Leon Spierer, former concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, a position he held from 1963 to 1993. As a chamber musician, she and her ensemble were featured in the Danenberg Honor Recital in 2017.

Beyond the concert stage, Ms. Wang is passionate about teaching and enjoys cooking, reading, and practicing yoga.
