I’m 18 years old and currently attending the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where I’m majoring in Music Therapy. I’ve been playing the viola/violin since I was 11 and have developed a deep passion for using music to connect with and support others. My goal is to become a certified music therapist and make a positive impact through the healing power of music.
What is your advice to someone considering auditioning for the CYS?
I definitely recommend it. It's been a huge part of my growth as a violist and musician. Being surrounded by talented, motivated players really pushed me to get better. The experience of playing in a full orchestra is inspiring, and the community is supportive and encouraging. Prepare early, focus on musical expression as well as accuracy, and just enjoy the process, you’ll learn a lot no matter what.
