American pianist Sean Kennard has earned top prizes in major competitions worldwide, including the Queen Elisabeth Competition (Belgium), International Music Competition of Viña del Mar (Chile), Vendome International Piano Competition (Portugal), Sendai International Music Competition (Japan), Hilton Head International Piano Competition (USA), the National Chopin Competition, and the American Pianists Association.

The Washington Post praised his “powerful and involved music making,” calling him “a strong, luminous pianist.” His 2011 debut album drew raves in American Record Guide as “a hidden gem,” noted for its “perfect blend of lyricism and romantic passion” and “bold melodic vision.” Fanfare lauded his “mastery of Chopin’s idiom” and “emotional responsiveness.” His recording of Scarlatti sonatas was released by Naxos in 2017, and subsequent albums have continued to highlight his versatility, including a Delos recording of 20th-century American works.

Kennard has appeared as soloist with orchestras across the globe, including the Prague Radio Symphony, NHK Chamber Orchestra, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Sendai Philharmonic, National Orchestra of Belgium, and Chile Symphony Orchestra, among many others in the United States and abroad. His recital and chamber music performances have taken him to leading venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, Salle Cortot (Paris), Palais des Beaux-Arts (Brussels), Gulbenkian Foundation (Lisbon), Chopin Society (Warsaw), Tokyo Opera City Hall, Seoul Arts Center, and Hong Kong City Hall.
