David Kamakahi started playing ‘ukulele at the age of 15, studying the stylings of the great ‘ukulele master and mentor, Eddie Kamae, and others such as Peter Moon, Troy Fernandez, and Led Kaapana. His natural talent rapidly enabled him to develop an exceptionally clean, polished technique. A Na Hoku Hanohano winner in his own right, he recorded two albums with his late father, Dennis Kamakahi, renowned musician and prolific songwriter, under producer George Winston for Dancing Cat Records and was featured with his father in the Walt Disney animated film Lilo and Stitch 2 on the song "Always," nominated for a Grammy in 2007. David founded his record label, Trick Bag Records, and released his second solo album, Shine, in 2009. He joined Waipuna in 2012.
