Nicole McCabe, an alto saxophonist, composer, and educator from Marin County, California, is a rising star in Los Angeles’ vibrant music scene. She recently released Mosaic, her fourth album as a bandleader, on Ghost Note Records, following Landscapes (Fresh Sound) and her 2020 debut, Introducing Nicole McCabe (Minaret). Mosaic, produced by Jeff Parker, showcases her intricate tone and inventive post-bop sensibilities, featuring Logan Kane, Tim Angulo, Julius Rodriguez, and guest artists like Parker.

The album includes works developed during her time at Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead residency, mentored by Jason Moran, and refined under Patrice Rushen at the Los Angeles Jazz Society’s New Note program. McCabe has collaborated with luminaries like Ari Hoenig, Gerald Clayton, and Louis Cole. Recent highlights include a residency at ETA and her solo album, Improvisations. Earlier this year, Fresh Sound released Live at Jamboree, capturing her Barcelona performance.
