Jackson Presnell has played the violin since the age of four, and this is his tenth year playing with the KSYO. He is a proud member of the Farragut High School Orchestra as an arranger and performer. His outstanding teachers include Bill Paczkowski, Kristin Barber, Mary Ann Fennell, Katie Liaw, Erin Murphy, his current private instructor Megan Kehren, and current Orchestra Director John Garner. Over the years, Jackson has been part of many ensembles such as ETSBOA All-East (2019-2022), TMEA All-State (2020-2022), JR. Clinic (2017-2019), and placed principal 2nd violin at Tennessee Governor's School for the Arts (2021). When not playing with this fantastic group, he regularly plays for Cokesbury United Methodist under Marcelo Urias’ guidance. When not enjoying music, you will find Jackson in the pool swimming laps for the FHS Swim and Dive team or his summer league team, the Concord Hills Piranhas. While planning to major in Computer Science, emphasizing Cyber Security, he still plans for music to be a driving force with a minor in violin performance. The choice for college is fierce, with top contenders being the University of Tennessee, Middle Tennessee State University, and the University of South Carolina. Blessed with an abundance of offers over 80,000 dollars per year in scholarships from the eleven schools he has applied to, deciding where to attend has been challenging. Lastly, Jackson would like to thank Erin Archer, Cynthia Wright, Kathy Hart, James Fellenbaum, and all the KSYO staff for helping him grow as a musician and make music always be a wonderful place to retreat. He will cherish the memories of this group for the rest of his life and musical career.
